1. Will my massage be tailored to my specific needs?
Before your first massage, our therapists will ask a few questions about your health history and personal preferences so your massage will suit you perfectly. It is important that you inform your therapist of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to your treatment.
2. Does it hurt?
Our therapists are trained to monitor their touch and pressure according to your tissue texture and comfort level. Some types of massage are more intense than others, but we will never work outside of your level of comfort.
3. Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed. However, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort. The therapist will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet. You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
4. What parts of my body will be massaged?
You and the therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet hands, head, neck, and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals (male or female) or breasts (female).
5. Will any lubricant be used?
A light oil or lotion may be used to permit your muscles to be worked on without causing excessive friction to the skin. The lubricants used should hydrate the skin and be readily absorbed.
6. How long will a session last?
We are able to taylor our massages to fit your needs, beginning with half hour sessions and extending in half hour increments. A typical full body massage lasts approximately one hour, while a half-hour appointment will allow for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders or legs and feet. Always allow for relaxation time prior to and after the session.
